Care Home Services
How we can help your residents
We’re committed to ensuring that all nursing and care home residents have access to the very best domiciliary eye care. Sight tests are carried out respectfully, with no disruption to your daily routine.
We take into consideration all the factors affecting an individual’s eye health and vision – including good lighting and appropriate use of aids that are available. In fact, we were the first provider to develop a comprehensive training manual for nurses and care staff highlighting how to optimise the vision for those elderly individuals in their care. This training resource also includes a DVD and simulation spectacles which give the wearer an idea of what it’s like to suffer from cataracts or macular degeneration.
You’ll also receive a folder in which you can keep all of the information and care plans for your residents in one place, helping you to meet CQC requirements.
We recognise that you need a visiting optician who will call to provide individual eye tests and eye health services as new residents are admitted. We’ll happily provide this for your residents, respecting their dignity and wishes.
Clinical Governance
Healthcall Optical Services operate a robust clinical governance process and all our optometrists are regularly audited enabling us to monitor the standard of work and record keeping. We actively promote and encourage continued learning for all our clinical staff.
All customer facing personnel are checked by the Criminal Records Bureau. Our staff are chosen for their empathy with the elderly and those with disabilities. They also undergo a certified programme provided by the Alzheimer’s Society.
We notify the local Primary Care Trust/Health Boards of every nursing/residential home at which we are the service provider. This process ensures the appropriate use of Department of Health funding and is a regulatory process by each Primary Care Trust/Health Board.
