Hearing self-evaluation

Are you questioning your ability to hear clearly?

If you are unsure as to whether an aid would be of benefit to you, try our self-evaluation below to guide you.

This brief questionnaire can give you an idea about whether or not you might need some assistance.

  1. Do you frequently have to ask people to repeat what they have said?
  2. Do you often misunderstand what other people have said?
  3. Do you have to raise the volume of the TV or radio above where others listen?
  4. Do you find it easier to understand men’s voices rather than women’s?
  5. Can you hear better with one ear than the other?
  6. Have you been exposed to significant noise, either at work or through leisure activities?
  7. Do you begin to feel tired or irritable during long conversations?
  8. Do you find it difficult to converse on the phone?
  9. Do you find it difficult to follow a conversation in crowded places?
  10. Have any of you family or friends suggested to you that you might have a hearing problem?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to one or more of these questions, then it may be time for a more thorough investigation.
