Hearing self-evaluation
Are you questioning your ability to hear clearly?
If you are unsure as to whether an aid would be of benefit to you, try our self-evaluation below to guide you.
This brief questionnaire can give you an idea about whether or not you might need some assistance.
- Do you frequently have to ask people to repeat what they have said?
- Do you often misunderstand what other people have said?
- Do you have to raise the volume of the TV or radio above where others listen?
- Do you find it easier to understand men’s voices rather than women’s?
- Can you hear better with one ear than the other?
- Have you been exposed to significant noise, either at work or through leisure activities?
- Do you begin to feel tired or irritable during long conversations?
- Do you find it difficult to converse on the phone?
- Do you find it difficult to follow a conversation in crowded places?
- Have any of you family or friends suggested to you that you might have a hearing problem?
If you have answered ‘yes’ to one or more of these questions, then it may be time for a more thorough investigation.
